ABOUT BTEC

BTEC stands for the Business and Technology Education Council. BTECs are specialist work-related qualifications. A BTEC is a practical-based, vocational qualification, which can be studied at a college or school. They tend to be work-related and are ideal for any student who prefers more practical-based learning. BTEC qualifications allow you to continue further study at university or enter the workforce. On successful completion of a BTEC qualification, students can progress to employment or continue their learning in the same or related areas of study, in higher education and professional development programmes. More and more students studying BTECs are applying to university.

Most universities accept BTEC applicants, including Oxford and Cambridge, recognise BTECs as part of their overall course requirements. They’ll usually accept BTECs alongside other qualifications such as A-Levels.
