Our ACE Biosphere students had the chance to explore the science behind beauty in an exciting workshop led by 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗿. 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗶𝗸 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗶 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝗶!

 

The session kicked off with a fun activity where students 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 into 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝘀. Dr. Mai then introduced a handy website to help identify different types of registered drugs and supplements, complete with 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘅𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁-𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴—making the learning process hands-on and eye-opening!

 

Adding to the excitement, students also took part in a mini game called “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.” Each person received a mystery cup of solution and went around pouring into others’ cups and receiving pours back in a continuous loop—the one with the highest number of pours was crowned the winner!

 

Finally, the highlight of the workshop—students were divided into two groups, with one team creating a nourishing 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘂𝗺 and the other crafting a soothing 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺. The best part? Each product was made only with natural, skin-loving ingredients and free from harmful substances!

 

The workshop not only gave our students the opportunity to experiment like real formulators, but also taught them how to differentiate ingredients, understand product safety, and appreciate the science behind everyday cosmetic.
